Girl Scouts of Nassau County

The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) plan to develop a Promise Center to support their mission to provide youth development activities to girls from kindergarten through 12th grade. The goal in developing this facility is to create a flexible community space to host Girl Scout council programs, partner initiatives, troop meetings, and community-centric events to help foster revitalization in the underserved area for the program in the Roosevelt community, without losing sight of our mission to provide a safe, empowering environment for girls to participate in Girl Scouting without restrictions or barriers.  They look to serve constituents in the service area of the Roosevelt school district to provide a girl hub and holistic community service area, working collaboratively with partners to provide family-centric programs utilizing the “community schools” model to promote equity and inclusion.

 

The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) work to inspire and empower young girls through leadership, community service, and personal development. To continue this goal, they want to propose a new Promise Center that will be a central space for their programs, events, and community activities. This new building will give the Girl Scout’s the chance to enhance their life skills, leadership, and building friendships. It will be a space where girls can grow, thrive, and enjoy many different activities.

 

The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) aim to make a major transformation to the current warehouse at 157 Babylon Turnpike, Roosevelt, NY 11575, to a pleasing promise center. The building is located in a light manufacturing zone. It is currently a legal nonconforming structure according to the current zoning codes. The building still holds great potential to be transformed into the promise center the Girl Scout’s desire to construct and have great success with.
